This summer: STOP/START

(see my sad face.. while I'm cleaning up my window..)


When we bought a new house this spring, I knew it was going to be a busy summer. Blogpost were amongst the things that dissapeared from my agenda... I don't like change too much, so cleaning up the window in my old workspace, removing the drawings that had been there for quite some time and made my world visible for the outside world was rather difficult. Luckily I'm all about clean, fresh starts. And my new workspace was just like that!

I found a pin on Pinterest I REALLY liked. It looked like a lot of work, it was even more work than it looked like :(  But the best time to paint the floor, is when the space is empty. And it was going to be cramped in no time, with all my boxes of stuff I use for making stuff. But here's a picture of an emty workspace. I'll post new ones when I've tidied up a bit. Looks more like a garage or storageroom now. But a nice one in the garden surrounded with green. Lot's of green.

Made my first GIF animation last week, a blinking text! Since then, I really wanted to make more, more, MORE! So here's a bit of my Spielerei of today:

Hip en Handgemaakt

Op zondag 9 juni sta ik in Deventer op de Hip en Handgemaakt markt. Zo ver van huis... Spannend. Als je ook gaat, kom dan even gedag zeggen :D

Richting

Het is zondagavond en ik borrel van binnen.

Misschien omdat het morgen weer eens mooi en zonnig weer gaat zijn.
Misschien omdat de afgelopen 10 dagen boordevol ontmoetingen en gesprekken waren met fijne, sterke, creatieve, stoere of inspirerende mensen.
Misschien omdat ik wat meer duidelijkheid voel over waar ik heen wil met mijn ontwerpen.

Ik ben dankbaar voor deze ontmoetingen, voor de mensen op mijn pad. Voor deze inspiratie. Voor de richtingaanwijzingen. Ik geniet van het uitzicht en de nog af te leggen route.

My weekend in pictures

FRIDAY

Opening Urlaub in Utrecht, a new illustration and concept store from Ellen Vesters. We arrived too late to meet up with people we knew, and were forced to make new aquintances ;) You can find pictures of some of the nice things Urlaub sells. (it's actually my wishlist..)

SATURDAY

Visited the Bric a Brac market in Lingebos, a french themed fleamarket. Made absolutely no pictures there, only mental ones.. Bought a Richard scarry book, a red leather sholderbag and some tiny plastic monkeys for my evergrowing collection of small plastic monkeys. (what am I going to do with them??)

SUNDAY

Packed up all my stuff in a small car, and travelled to Utrecht. Sun all day, friendly people, sold a lot of my designs, met new people, a fun day at Utrechtse Fabriek!

MONDAY

This time I packed up all my stuff and walked 200 meters to de Grote Kerk in Breda. Had a fun day as well, in a somehow special place for the Home made market, organised by B in Motion during Nassau dag.

Oog en blik-expo in de Boschstraat

Harry en Trix -2 hele lieve mensen- werken samen hard aan het aangezicht van de Boschstraat in Breda:

De Boschstraat is van oudsher 1 van de aanrijroutes naar de stad, maar door de grote hoeveelheid leegstaande winkelruimtes, vage waterpijpwinkels etc. is het er voor de handjevol blijvende ondernemers niet aantrekkelijker geworden. Tot Harry en Trix zich inzette om eigenaren van leegstaande pandjes te benaderen en er werk van kunstenaars in te vertonen. Een gratis steeds wisselende expositie in een levendige straat is het resultaat! Meer informatie vind je hier.

Mijn werk 'Cup of Love' is al even te bewonderen, tot eind mei hangt het er. Ga je ook even kijken?

(in een vrieskou en natte sneeuwbui, bah, wat duurde deze winter lang!)

Oh Marie / Ahoy Sailor

Made an illustration for the new-cool-digital (EN-NL) magazine Oh Marie. This issue is called Ahoy Sailor, and gave me the opportunity to finally make a drawing/collage of an octopus. And a little hommage to Jean Jaques Cousteau aswell..
